Are You Too Late?
AGE - a three letter word that seem to direct many people's lives.
Too young, too old - we always seem to have some sort of age defining reasons WHY we can or cannot do something.
I was constantly surrounded by people who were older than me since young. I was lucky enough to learn from my seniors and saw things differently from their perspectives. Earlier when I was younger, it felt like what they had shared with me was insightful and intriguing. Overtime as I aged, the inner conversation changed. I began to question and doubt. Not what they say but WHY they say what they say.
The idea of age(ing) puts a different toll on everybody but does it really have to be this way? By social standards we should be married in 20s-30s, thrive in careers in 30s-40s and retired by 50s-60s but of course this is not the reality. Every one of us is on a different timeline. Nothing is linear. Yet somehow age seems to be the key to what is possible or not.
For me personally aging is inevitable but we can get to decide HOW we age.
Who is judging? Who decides? Who is taking action? Who is measuring? Perhaps there is indeed a certain limitation - in sports especially but what if you can be an exception. What if you can push the boundaries but you never did because you think you shouldn't. Just because it has never been done doesn't mean that it is not possible.
If we are the creator / editor / writer of our own lives (aren't we?), then it is up to us to decide when the pen comes down. We can change the script, we can decide the ending, we can write our story according to how we want to live and lead our lives. This perhaps is the greatest 'superpower' we have as a living being. The freedom of choice.
We are never too late. We are always at the right time, right space, right moment doing exactly the thing we should be doing because we are always in charge. We are always choosing.
