[BOOK REVIEW] : What Does WINNING Looks Like?

The first time I heard of Tim Grover is through learning about Michael Jordon, after watching his Netflix documentary - The Last Dance (watch it if you haven’t and you will know why MJ is such an icon).I had intended to get his other book RELENTLESS but this caught my eye instead. I’m always on a look out for self improvement and this doesn’t disappoint. In fact it was a trashing at my face when I least expected it (and needed).

I love it when someone thinks out of the box or no box. TG is one such person. No sugar coating, no bs, just straight at the bull’s eye! Winning talks about 13 No 1 (all of equal importance) to Winning.

TG talks about Winning like it’s something, a person, a mission, real, alive and eating at you (in a good way if you can handle it). It’s not for the weak and undecided. You have to want it so bad even if it means sacrificing everything you have. Yes that’s how Winning is for TG.

There’s no plan B, no motivational quotes, no ra-ras, no empathy, no emotions involved. It’s pure action, taking risk and feeling it. Hard work, commitment, dedication, mindset, teamwork, leadership etc… they are all a given.

Winning is everything. It never lies, it is selfish and takes you to hell (and if you quit, you will stay there!). Doesn’t sound all that great and inspiring? That’s exactly what TG wants you to know. It’s not a glorious moment or marathon or some mighty celebration. It’s a sprint with no finish line.

You win, great! Get back to work. You don’t talk and inspire, you act and show results. You don’t negotiate, you don’t bargain, you either do or don’t and Winning decides whether you are worth it or not.

It’s one of a kind of book that may or may not resonate with everyone but neither TG nor Winning cares and they are perfectly ok with that. Ultimately the message I got from the book is life is short (Kobe died before he even started his next chapter of greatness), you’ve got to give your best, stay with your dream, quit the talking and fight for it.

Winning is simply pushing you to get better each time because life is a never ending series of Losing (mostly) and limited Winning, that’s why few will win because few live to their potential and greatness.

“Winning is watching. It’s waiting for you at the finish line, with a message.

Welcome.
The race is over.
The price has been paid.

For now” - Tim Grover

P/S: I wrote this within 30 minutes after reading the last page because that’s what Winning has taught me. Act now. Focus. Get it done!
