The One Thing That Trumps Motivation and Discipline

Motivation and discipline are both overrated. You can be motivated but if you lack discipline, you won't accomplish anything. Similarly if you are disciplined but not motivated, you will soon fall off the wagon.

Say if you want to lose weight, you MUST exercise every single day. It doesn't matter whether you feel like it or not, you simply must do it. You make no excuses, you learn to ignore your mind's pleading to take a break, you jump out of bed on time even if you feel like sleeping in. You know the daily grind gives the result you want.

The key is to be consistent

How does one build consistency? You keep showing up. You learn to commit. You learn to trust yourself. You understand short term pain gives you long term pleasure. You focus on quality not quantity. You get some work in every single day. You learn that the process is more important than the outcome itself. You learn to build a system that works for you. You stop buying into your own excuses. You learn to prioritise important commitments. You start to evolve and step up to another level of greatness.

Motivation might fall sideways if you don't get the results you want. Discipline requires great mental toughness when things get hard. Consistency acts like a bridge between the two. You do what you must do DAILY even if it is just getting one percent of the work done. You keep showing up and do the work!
