Know Your WHY To Do The Hard Things
Do you believe nothing is impossible?
The idea impossible = I.M.POSSIBLE gets thrown around a lot especially around motivational speakers or inspirational quotes. While reading John Mashni's latest article - How to Do Hard Things - the idea of eating a shoe seems impossible until it was done. Kudos to Werner Herzog for eating his shoe however I questioned the logic behind it.
While Werner was trying to prove a point that nothing is impossible, we need to question ourselves what is our intention behind our actions. Doing hard things will help to strengthen our endurance and challenge our limiting beliefs. But asking WHY or evaluating the intentions behind it is just as important.
When we know our WHY, it motivates us and keeps us going. The WHY becomes our reason to reject excuses. We have mental clarity and we can self moderate our actions. We become one-pointed. We hold ourselves accountable. We have a clear vision and we block out distractions. We make time for what is important. We become more willing to do the hard things. When the WHY is clear, the HOW becomes attainable.
